Ho99o9 Portland Concert reviews
We enjoyed, but venue needs to show the orchestra
The Symphony experience with the movie, we paid for, my wife & I love Star Wars. The Saenger Theater is elegant and beautiful, somewhat smaller & personal venue. The orchestra should have had at least three tiers viewable for something of this nature. They were all stacked behind each other flat.
The bottom of the screen obscured the back half of the players from the majority of the balcony. Furthermore, from the majority of the balcony, the bottom of the screen obscured the back half of the players.
We did LOTR in Dallas several years ago, and that was awesome. The screen should have been placed above and behind the orchestra, period.
The musicians played well, and hard. Even though the experience was marred by the above layout shortcomings of the venue, it was enjoyed. We would think twice before doing something like this again, without further inquiry into the layout of the orchestra to be SEEN.
